There was a fix for awhile-grabbing that FireWireSDK24 package from the Apple Developer Connection site. (And I thought I was going nuts there for a while.) This would explain why it worked n the 10.4 installation disk I have-but not since I upgraded that drive to 10.4.11). There are alternative downloads for OS X 10.2, 10.3, 10.4, 10.5 and 10.7.Onyx is completely free and will help. Note that this version is only for Mountain Lion. It would be a bummer not to be able to use LE9 with Leopard on the G5, as that's the only reason I went through all the effort to get it working.ĮDIT: After more research, it looks as though Tiger 10.4.10 broke the Firewire drivers in OS X. If you experience any compatibility issues with OnyX for Mac, consider downloading one of the older versions of OnyX. OnyX is a simple but incredibly powerful maintenance and optimization tool for OS X. And then I'd have to use LE8-as long as QuickTime 7.2 will install on that OS. So the worst case scenario might be that I have to roll that drive back to 10.4, and just not install that upgrade. But now that I've upgraded that drive to 10.4.11, it isn't working any longer. Works like a charm! And I *thought* it worked at first on the G5, when I installed OS 10.4. I just tried the Onyx on my MacBook Pro, with Snow Leopard. Not to reply to my own post, but here goes anyway. ![]()
