A timepiece specially curated for doctors, engineers, athletes, deep-sea divers, and racing car drivers. Post the Diastar fame came ‘Captain Cook’. Especially, the usage of ceramic in the watchmaking industry is attributed to Rado watches. Diastar marked Rado’s journey of sailing on the waves of creating unique amalgamations of materials. In 1962, Rado launched the Rado Diastar, the world’s first scratch-resistant watch. This motto inspired Rado to produce the first watch under their name called the Green Horse in 1957. Since then, Rado watches have been following in the footsteps of their motto, ‘if we can imagine it, we can make it’. Reaping the benefits of neutralism, Rado became one of the largest producers of watch movements by the end of the war. During the second world war, Rado kept their manufacturing business intact by staying neutral in the neutral country Switzerland. It was formed in 1917 as Schulp & Co., but the brand launched its first collection of watches under the name of Rado in 1957. Note this jewelry piece isn't as water resistant, with a rating of only 30m/100ft. Mother-of-Pearl is also used to decorate the dial and for the small-seconds subdial. It features a purple for its rubber strap and dial, with a “Clou de Paris” engraved center. It uses a 40mm stainless steel case with a diamond stamped bezel. Last and not least is this ladies jewelry version. Both are also fitted with black rubber diving straps and are water resistant to 300m/1000ft. The sapphire caseback is also nicely detailed, with a view of the automatic movement. One version features a black dial with white and red accents, the other a silvered dial with black and orange accents. This pair also use the same 46mm stainless steel case, but loose the chrono functions for just a small-seconds subdial. Both are fitted with a black rubber diving strap and are water resistant to 300m/1000ft. The sapphire caseback allows a spectacular view of the big complex movement within. The dial features a central chrono hand, a small-seconds subdial and a near-instant 45-minute subdial. Both use a 46mm stainless steel case and are fitted with a double-pusher column-wheel chrono movement. We have their chronographs in two variations, one with a black dial with white and red accents, the other with a silver-white dial with black and red accents, limited to 280 pieces each. We have one unique womens piece, a pair of chronographs and two small-seconds automatics. This collection definitely stand out in the world of dive watches, with their signature fluted bezel and six instead of four lugs for its big case.
